Xenical Diet Pills

Xenical is a fat absorbing medication that has traditionally only been available to obese patients from their doctor on prescription. Recently in the US, the FDA approved the sale of an over the counter alternative called Alli. Both Xenical weight loss pills and Alli contain the active ingredient Orlistat which is a lipase inhibitor which prevents fat being assimilated into the body.

Orlistat capsules absorb close to 30% of any fat calories you eat, it is then passed through the digestive system and out through the bowels without hitting the bloodstream. That means you are storing approximately 30% less fat calories and therefore you are likely to lose weight fast.

Xenical is manufactured by Roche and comes in the form of blue or green capsules. The most common pill is the Xenical 120mg and this is normally prescribed in 28 day doses. You take one tablet during or shortly after each meal, although if at any time you eat a meal which doesn’t contain any fat, you don’t need to take the tablet.

It is also important to watch the fat content of your daily diet – it shouldn’t be more than 30% of your daily caloric intake. In other words, if you are eating 1500 calories a day, no more than 450 should be fat calories – or else there are some unpleasant side effects. The fat content of your daily diet should not be greater than 30% of your total daily caloric intake. For example, if you eat 1200 calories per day, no more than 360 of those calories should be in the form of fat.

Xenical is usually only prescribed to people who are clinically obese – it may sound ideal for anyone who struggle with conventional diets but if you aren’t seriously overweight with a BMI in excess of 30kg/m²  there are other effective alternatives like Proactol. In any case be sure to consult with your doctor and don’t be tempted to order a batch of Xenical pills online – for a start they can be expensive and secondly, you don’t know if what you are getting is really Xenical!

One thing that is really good about Xenical is that it recommends a safe and sensible weight loss figure of 1-2lbs per week, this is in stark contrast to many weight loss diet supplements who claim ridiculous losses in excess of 8lbs per week! If you are considering any weight loss diet pill that claims these kind of fantasy figures, run a mile – it is marketing lies!

How Does Xenical Work?

Xenical works in your digestive system to block one-third of the fat from your food intake from being digested and absorbed into the blood stream. Xenical is the best medication for weight loss. Enzymes in your digestive system, called lipases, help break down fat. When taken with meals, Xenical attaches to the lipases and blocks them from breaking down some of the fat you have eaten.

This unabsorbed, undigested fat then passes out of your body through your bowel movements. By working this way, Xenical helps stops the absorption of about one-third of the fat from food into the body. People treated with Xenical and a reduced-calorie diet with no more than 30% of calories from fat achieved significantly greater weight loss than people who were treated with diet alone.

Xenical safety

The effects of Xenical on weight loss, weight maintenance and weight regain, as well as the effects of weight loss with Xenical on other weight-related health problems (such as type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol levels and high blood pressure), have been assessed in seven different, one to two year, multi-centre, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trials. It has been established that Xenical is an effective and safe way to lose weight.

Effects of Xenical

You will notice the difference within 2 weeks of starting Xenical. Weight loss will continue for 6 to 12 months, after which you may stop having further weight loss. This does not indicate that Xenical has stopped working. It simply means that you will not have further weight loss until you set a new goal and have your doctor lay out a different diet and exercise plan.

Adipex Side Effects

The potential side effects of Adipex diet pills are significant, and can include…

  • Tachycardia (erratic heart beat)
  • Elevation of blood pressure
  • Restlessness
  • Dizziness and tremors
  • Insomnia
  • Euphoria
  • Headache
  • Psychotic episodes (occur rarely at recommended doses).

Therefore, the minimum effective dose of the drug should be used in every case. Other possible side effects include dryness of the mouth and unpleasant taste, diarrhea, constipation, skin allergy, changes in sex drive, and occassionally even impotence.

Long term therapy with Adipex, especially in combination with another class of appetite suppressants called SSRI’s (also used in depression) can lead to permanent alterations in the blood vessels of the lung and the inner lining of the heart. This can cause abnormal functioning of the heart valves.

Awareness of this possibility is essential and any deterioration in tolerance for exercise (heavy breathing, etc) should be immediately reported. Treatment will need to be discontinued if new, unexplained symptoms like breathing difficulty, chest pain, episodes of unconsciousness or lower limb swelling should occur. For the same reason Adipex must be avoided in people with existing defects in blood flow through the lungs and abnormally functioning heart valves.

The potential of drug abuse needs to be kept in mind for physicians prescribing Adipex. Regular monitoring for signs of insomnia, irritability, hyperactivity, personality changes and signs of “drug seek” behavior is essential. The most severe manifestation of chronic abuse is psychosis, often differing very little from full-blown schizophrenia.

Abrupt cessation following a prolonged period of treatment may result in extreme fatigue, mental depression, and changes in sleep patterns. This drug should be tapered off gradually.

An overdose of Adipex diet pills may result in restlessness, tremor, rapid respiration, confusion, aggressiveness, hallucinations and panic states. It may also result in irregular heart beats, hypertension or hypotension, even circulatory collapse. Gastrointestinal symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal cramps. Fatigue and depression usually follow this state of over-stimulation.

Fatal poisoning usually terminates in convulsions and coma.

In the event of a suspected overdose, medical attention needs to be sought. Depending on the severity of the reaction, admission for observation, sedation and intravenous therapy for elevated blood pressure may be required.
